Katie Doherty is an award winning Singer and Songwriter from the North East of England.

After winning the Musicians Benevolent Fund Award for Song Creation in 2005, Katie released her first album Bridges on Park Records. She went on to tour with Kathryn Tickell, was part of the Aftershock Residency with Nitin Sawhney and performed support slots for Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Karine Polwart and Ray Davies amongst others. Katie has become well known for composing songs and music for dozens of local, national and international pieces of theatre including ‘As You Like it’ directed by Samuel West and in association with the RSC, ‘The Fall’ winner of Best of the New York Fringe Festival and most recently her first musical ‘Beyond the End of The Road’ produced by November Club, which completed a sell out tour including Sage Gateshead this summer. For the past six years  Katie has toured and recorded with German based, British Folk band Broom Bezzums as a part time member. Their most recent album features her song ‘Passing Through’ as the title track. Following a succesful Summer Studio’s residency at Sage Gateshead this Summer, Katie is working on a new album with Shona Mooney (The Shee) and Dave Gray (Vaarldens Band).
